New York, March 25, 2026 — Multi-talented Finnish singer-songwriter, composer, and filmmaker Ida Elina has become the newest international member of New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT).
Known as a modern pop kantele queen, Elina blends the ancient Finnish harp-like instrument with contemporary pop and draws deep inspiration from the national epic Kalevala. Her award-winning 15-minute audiovisual short film Under the Northern Skies — which serves as a visual journey through her 13-song album — has earned multiple international awards and screened in festivals across Europe. The project recently expanded into a symphonic version that premiered with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra.
Although based in Finland’s Helsinki Capital region, Elina plans to spend significant time in New York to build creative connections. She was introduced to NYWIFT by the SOHO International Film Festival and board member Sibyl Raymundo-Santiago.
“I’m excited to be part of a creative community of women who support and inspire one another,” said Elina Read the NYWIFT Blog
