“Under the Northern Skies” Wins Best World Showcase Short Film at SoHo International Film Festival, New York
We are thrilled to share that Under the Northern Skies has won Best World Showcase Short Film at the prestigious SoHo International Film Festival in New York!
The festival, founded by Jorge Ballos, celebrates bold and diverse cinematic voices from around the world. In an official statement, Executive Director and Head of Programming Sibyl Reymundo-Santiago says:
“We’re deeply proud to see how our filmmakers continue to expand the boundaries of independent cinema. Every nominee and winner tonight represents the heart of storytelling today.”
The 2025 winners, as reported by Variety, include Tricia Helfer (“Hello Beautiful”), Naum Shopov (“Wingless”), The Singers (Best US Showcase Short Film), and Under the Northern Skies (Best World Showcase Short Film).
Directed and written by Timo Puustinen and featuring music and performance by Ida Elina, Under the Northern Skies continues its successful international festival journey — previously awarded at the LA Film & Documentary Awards, Tokyo Film & Screenplay Awards, HB Film Festival in Scotland, and many others.
This recognition from SoHo International Film Festival marks another exciting milestone for Under the Northern skies shortfilm and our ongoing mission to bring Finnish mythology to the world through music and film.
